With the last trip paddling off the neck as I type, all trips are out in the field! We have had an incredibly smooth arrival on Tuesday. Thanks to all who traveled far and wide to come to Chewonki. After a group meeting and introductions all the trippers headed off to their tents for the first night. Early on Wednesday morning Umbagog, Maine Appalachian Trail Backpack, and North Woods Canoe, excitedly loaded into the vans to head out. Mariners left the docks mid day and are now sailing out towards Harbor Island in Muscoungus Bay. This morning West Branch Explorers loaded up their backpacks and headed to the trail head where they will begin their hiking section. The Maine Coast Kayak group just paddled away from our waterfront towards Castle Island, their first island home 3 miles away from our campus. We have updated our flicker site with pictures of the trips here https://www.flickr.com/photos/chewonki/collections/72157619515494223/ Unfortunately with a late arrival for North Woods Canoe we were not able to get their group photo. We hope to get one on their resupply. Please note that we do not regularly get photos from our trips since they are out in remote locations. We will post photos when they return after we have a chance to get images from them. Keep checking back. We look forward to welcome our first five week trips George River Expedition, and Boatbuilders on Sunday.
