As I sit down to write this we have only four days left of Summer 2018 at Chewonki! Second session Wilderness Trips are winding down. The eight co-ed trips in the field have just two more full days left on trail and will head back to campus on Saturday. By Saturday night, we will have a group of over 100 trippers here to celebrate and reflect on the hard work they have done, either over three weeks or five weeks! This weekend will be full of Chewonki cheers heard around the neck as trips return, many hands working to clean gear down in Packout, and a palpable buzz to the air!
On Sunday we will have a special banquet in celebration of the hard work that these folks have put into the trip. Afterwards, we will go down to the new east-side fire circle to share all the triumphs, hardships, and meaningful moments from our many trips. I am beyond excited to welcome these fine trippers back to Chewonki neck and hear all their stories!
